ok, I decided to get me a Cingular phone. Can anyone reccomend a particular, good, accessible phone that they carry? Like which works best with the accessibility software? thanks

From what I've been able to discover that series/phone is the only one that does work with the software. However, I also think it depends on the amount of accessibility your looking for...I have some sighted assistance, there for find the phone I have accessible enough. *smile* Sorry, can't tell you what it is...Don't remember the model or anything, but I can say this. It has voice recognition, you can set shortcut keys to access certain menus if your memory is good enough to remember what to do after the shortcut is pressed to do what you desire doing.

so the 6600 is cingular's only accessible phone?

That's the only one I know about. Other phones that do the talks thing are the Nokia 3600,3650 and some others. Cingular likes to push the 6600/6620 though. I have the 6620 and it does everything I want except for the web browser.

We were told when signing up with Cingular, and from what we could find on their Web site, that the only accessible ones are the 6600 series.

Hi,

Try this link its to the scansoft page. there's a list of all the phones that work with talx2 version.
www.scansoft.com/news/pressreleases/20050315_talks.asp.

If this link doesn't work leave me a message and I'll try and get the info to you another way.

Just to say though I believe the software works with the Nokia 7610, Nokia 6620, Nokia 6630i and any Nokia's that start with 66 as a prefix.

Regards

Graham

This is so gay! I like flip phones cause I think the other designs are kinda ugly, but there's like none! I lookd at talks and mobile speak. I'm kinda pissed now, all the hella nice phones with all the features (like the palmone 650 which I fell in love with) aren't accessible. Do they think blind ppl don't wanna be stylin? <growl> ok, I'm ranting now, but seriously, why should we have such a limited selection in which phone we can use and everyone else gets bazillions of phones to choose from?!

Hmmm, I guess it depends on how much you want to do with your phone. I have the lg vx4500 and I love it! I don't text message nor go on the internet. I'm able to create, read, or erase contacts. The phone speaks the time date, battery life, signal strength, and service alerts. It has talking caller ID as well. All of this is included in the phone, it was no extra money! Thank goodness! It'll also speak as you navigate the menu, but I notice it'll only go so far. {Smile,} I have no complaints! I'm impressed that this phone is so accessible without extra cost.

I'm actually purchasing the Nokia N70, which is the newest Nokia on the market that works with mobile speak. This phone was just released Last year during the third quarter. It's got everything ranging from a 2 metapixle camera, to a video camera, to an FM radio. Can't wait til it gets here.
